Resource Recovery Operations – Two Day Course

Next training: 25-26th February, Devonport, Auckland

An introduction to community resource recovery

The purpose of this course is to provide the skills and knowledge required to safely
and effectively work at a community resource recovery centre (CRC). It is suited best
for those people currently employed or seeking employment in the sector. This course
provides theoretical knowledge and a practical understanding of the industry.

Topics covered include:
• An overview of legislation relevant to resource recovery
• An introduction to the machinery and equipment specific you’ll find at a resource recovery site.
• Workplace health and safety procedures and reporting
• Understanding the concepts of zero waste
• Resource recovery in your community
• Receiving and handling reusable goods for resale, and the different types of recyclable materials
• Understanding contamination

The cost for the two days is $150 excl GST per attendee for Auckland community group participants and $550 excl GST per attendee for those people coming from outside of Auckland or non-members of the network.

If this seems like a great deal for Aucklanders, it is. We will be using some of our Auckland Council funding to offer subsidies to Auckland groups, in support of the building of a great Auckland Resource Recovery Network. For those of you outside of Auckland we would be interested in getting a similar thing happening with other councils so do get in touch if this is something you’d be interested in working with us on.
