One of the outcomes from the Strengthening Communities Hui was an agreement to look into establishing a Combined Buyers Group for all members who want to join. This will provide members with access to good deals on things you need.

For those who were at the Strengthening Communities Hui you would have seen that we’re setting up insurance as the first offer. We are continuing the soft launch of this with a webinar on Thursday, December 7 from 12-1pm. Mark Sloman from Rothbury Brokers will be presenting at this webinar, with an introduction from Gareth Cartwright from the Community Energy Network.

The Community Energy Network already run a successful Buyer’s Group for some of their members who are buying insulation. Gareth will run through the basics of the buyers group concept and how it works for them. Mark will be doing a short presentation on how the service will be set up and give a few case studies of members that he has already been working with (some pretty chunky savings to be had!). There will be plenty of time given to answer questions and discuss future plans.

We will also be setting up a calendar with insurance renewal dates so that Mark can contact an organisation at the right time.
