As a way to provide access to learning and networking to our members all around the country, we’ll be running frequent webinars from 2017 onward. The programme will be added to as topics are confirmed. Webinars are free and you don’t need to register beforehand.
Upcoming Webinars
15th November @ 12pm

The technical stuff
We’ll be using Zoom as the webinar platform, it’s free for people to join the session, and it’s relatively simple to use, you need to follow the session link on the day and you’ll automatically join the meeting. Zoom may need to be downloaded before you can join the meeting, so its a good idea to check it out before the webinar starts.
We won’t necessarily be using the webinar version of Zoom, just the normal version which is a lot like skype. This means we’ll be able to hear you (and see you if you want us to) so be prepared to mute yourself in order to make the experience a lot nicer for everyone. Wearing headphones can help with some sound issues and is advised.
More information
If you have any questions about the webinars, suggestions for the programme, or you’d be interested in presenting please email me, Dorte, on admin@communityrecyclers.org.nz or phone 021 975 352.
Past Webinars
13th September @12pm:
Beautiful Plastic – Andy Crowe from Critical Design.
Critical Design are a social enterprise design lab looking at ways to make technology accessible to local communities. This session will be all about recycled plastics – “Our current project looks at the ways in which we can rethink waste as a valuable material. We have taken waste recycled plastic and turned it into useful furniture. We would like to hear from people who are working in the recycling space on the ground. We are also looking for critique, pushbacks and challenges! Are we just some idealistic millennial’s from Auckland with a fancy idea or is there something here that resonates with the wider community?”
This session will be an opportunity to hear about the tools and processes they’ve developed, and their ideas for what might be possible in communities around New Zealand. Anyone interested in plastic recycling, upcycling and open sourced technology should join us. We’ll see a presentation from Andy and then have a chance to ask him questions and give him feedback to help them make their project even more awesome.

‘Been There, done that: the CRN Board answer your questions and share their experiences in resource recovery’
At the hui last year we floated the idea of a regular webinar and got ideas for potential topics from members. At lunchtime on the 24th May we’re launching on the programme and making the most of the combined expertise of the CRN Board with the Topic ‘Been there, done that’: The CRN Board answer your questions and share their experience in Resource Recovery. This is an opportunity for members to get advice, try out ideas on people who’ve had plenty of successes and a few failures, and hopefully get inspired by the collective wisdom of some of the best in the business.
We’ll be using Zoom as the webinar platform, it’s free for people to join the session, and it’s relatively simple to use, you need to follow the link below on the day and you’ll automatically join the meeting. It’s the first time we’ll be using the software for this purpose, I will hopefully be able to control noise and camera issues, but be prepared to make your face shown and use the mute button. Zoom may need to be downloaded before you can join the meeting, so its a good idea to check it out before the webinar starts.
Please let me know if you are intending on joining the webinar by emailing me, Dorte, on admin@communityrecyclers.org.nz or 021 975 352. And let me know what questions you’d be interested in having answered too, the more we can prepare the Board, the better the session will be.
